The Sapphire assembles using a central nylon pin. At the base of this pin there is a 3mm acrylic rivet on which the assembly stack rests. Because of this, the pressure pad has the freedom to tilt vertically and turn horizontally. As such, it forms a "finger trap" type mechanism. When an attempt is made to pull out from the back, the forward section immediately tilts down to trap the penis. If an attempt to hold the pressure pad to stop this tilt-down effect is made, the rear section then immediately pushes in and traps the penis and it seems there is no available technique that would allow escape.
Pulling the penis from the base is not possible because it is tucked down into the back band so the only way to pull it out is from the top. This will involve time, effort and pain. The pressure pad also prevents the testicles from being withdrawn through the back band which allows for a more open setting at the base of the cage.
Due to their extremely smooth surfaces and flat bases, the pads won't wear a hole even if a fair amount of in-cage abuse is occuring.
